The
Tronco system significantly reduces construction time. One
mobile production unit allows for the construction of
some 300 square meters (approx 3000 square feet) of built
floor area within one eight-hour shift. Additional production
units
operating
simultaneously at one or more locations will do as much
more.
Metalogs are all custom-made at construction sites and,
when combined with a limited number of pre-manufactured components,
can be rapidly assembled into fences and building superstructures
of up to three stories, most of which may be done with locally-hired
helpers.
Irrespective of whether the metallic superstructures represent only 20 or as much as 80 percent of overall construction costs (depending on type of building and specifications), the end product is less expensive and considerably faster to construct than comparable alternative options.
The system’s equipment fits into special containers,
which then become mobile production plants, transportable
by boat, truck or aircraft to construction sites. As to
the steel/aluminum strip material (coils), the volume
ratio between the coils and the erected superstructures
is approx
1-to-200.
Tronco superstructures are remarkably resistant to earthquakes,
hurricanes, rust, rot and termites. Moreover, Tronco buildings
weigh four times less than conventional brick-and-mortar
structures, thus permitting construction under poor geotechnical
conditions, and/or on top of existing buildings. Certain
superstructures and free-standing walls do not require pre-existing
foundations at all.
Tronco superstructures are energy-efficient: unique insulated "troncopanels" may
be cement-glued to walls and roof, thus providing for comfortable
quality buildings under any climatic conditions, including
extreme cold and warm weather. Same degree of comfort can
be achieved in hot climates without any wall cladding at
all (wall cladding may be applied at a later stage, without
affecting the continuity of use of internal spaces).
Custom-designed Tronco superstructures, with just elastomeric
paint sprayed on their tubular facades, or with cement-stucco,
brick-veneer, wood-siding or most any other type of exterior
cladding/finish, allow for attractive architectural solutions,
whether traditional or contemporary.
Proprietary use of Tronco superstructures is covered
by multiple basic and industrial patents on a worldwide
basis.
Unlike other innovations in the construction
field, Tronco is an "open" system compatible with
complementary systems and materials, including partitions,
joists, trusses, doors, windows, all of which in accordance
with local specifications.
The metallic superstructures without their
exterior cladding are indeed habitable shells, allowing
end-users and/or
local sub-contractors to finish the construction on their
own at a later stage (particularly well adapted for high-speed
deployments and "do-it-yourself" programs).
